Pres. Boakai, Entourage Return Home from Korea-Africa Summit

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai, and entourage have returned home after participating in the Korea-Africa Summit.

According to an Executive Mansion release issued recently, the Liberian Leader held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Korea and Kenya, and at the same time participated in business and investment forums with Korean investors.

The release said the meetings were intended to solidify bilateral relationships with the Asian Continent for the advancement of Liberia.

While in Korea, President Boakai engaged with the Liberian Community, reassuring them of the Liberian Government’s unwavering interest and commitment to rebuilding the country.

The Summit brought together Heads of State from Africa, high-level business leaders, the President and members of the Korean Government, and many others.

Meanwhile, Liberia and South Korea have signed several Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) focusing on agriculture, energy, water, financial, and investment sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The MOUs will ensure reliable energy through the provision and development of solar energy power plants, investment in agricultural research, food production, and unhindered access to water supply.

An Executive Mansion release issued recently described the agreements as an opportunity for substantial improvements and developments in key sectors and the creation of jobs for the youthful population.

The companies that are expected to implement the MOUs include the Daehan Smart Meter Co., Samdo Electric Energy, and Korea-Agro Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Liberia, Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti underscored the significance of the signed agreements in the development of the country, upon its full implementation.
