First Batch of Liberian Migrants Takes Off from Ghana

GHANA, WEST AFRICA-The first batch of Liberian migrants is en route from Ghana to Liberia.

It followed the launch of the repatriation program by the Government of Liberia at the Buduburam Camp in Ghana, over the weekend.

According to ELBC Reporter traveling with the delegation, vehicles conveying more than seven hundred Liberian returnees are being escorted by officers of the Ghana Police Service to the Elubo Border between Ghana and the Ivory Coast.

Tuesday marks the beginning of more than four thousand stranded Liberians from Buduburam Camp who are expected to be repatriated in May and June this year.

Thousands of Liberians residing in the Camp got stranded following the demolition of their homes by Ghanaian Authorities for failing to comply with the eviction deadline.
