Sheriff and Clerk of Civil Law Court Annex Go to Prison

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Sheriff and Clerk of the Civil Law Court Annex at the Temple of Justice have been sent to the Monrovia Central Prison for alleged theft, misapplication of entrusted property, and criminal coercion.

Defendant Pobleh Wea and Nah Wollor were arrested based on a complaint filed by Judge Ousman Feika, alleging between July 2021 to January 2024, they received over two hundred thousand Liberian Dollars in funds from the parties’ litigants.

The amount was intended to be deposited in an escrow account to fulfill judgments of the Court proceeding, which they confirmed were lodged into the accounts at the UBA Bank.

The investigation also established that the defendants, Nah and Pobleh, received the funds and deposited same into an escrow account, but with criminal intent withdrew all of the US Dollars components, and the same was used to settle their problems, instead of giving the money to party litigants.

Pobleh went into hiding after the act was discovered and after a month, they reported themselves to the police Pobleh admitted to receiving the funds, but told the investigations that withdrawals were made with the approval of Nah Wollor, where they divided the cash on several occasions.
