MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Kofi Annan Peacekeeping International Center (KAIPTC) has launched a Code of Practice for Women in the Maritime Security Domain for Liberia.

The Code is to serve as a guide for the involvement of women in the Maritime security chain.

Launching the Code on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Monrovia, the Deputy Commandant of the KAIPTC, Air Commodore David Akrong called on Liberia to implement the Code based on its economic, social, and cultural framework.

Air Commodore Akrong expressed confidence that the Code will work for Liberia, which is among six coastal African countries implementing the plan.

The Code of Practice for Women in the Maritime Security Domain is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Geraldine George has stressed the need for the creation of a supportive work environment for women in the security sector.
