Chief Justice Discloses Ongoing Discussions with Executive and Legislative Branches of Liberian Gov.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh has disclosed the ongoing discussion with the Executive and National Legislature on the Financial Autonomy of the Judiciary.

Justice Yuoh said:” The Financial Autonomy Act exempts members of the Judiciary from salary cuts or other financial liabilities under the pretext of reforms.”

She said:” Consistent with the Constitution and laws of the Republic, the Judiciary is not part of the Executive and, therefore, cannot be subjected to budget deliberations.”

The Chief Justice made the remarks on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the ongoing conference of International Judges at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

The immediate past Government’s Harmonization Policy affected all sectors, including the Judiciary.
