Vice Pres. Koung Calls for Water, Electricity, Privatization

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung is calling for the privatization of distribution components of water and electricity in Liberia.

Vice President Koung said:” The ordinary people will receive better services from water and electricity if they are privatized.”

The Liberian Vice President was speaking on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the dedication of three Water and Sewage trucks at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation in Sinkor, Monrovia.

The sewage trucks were procured by the past administration for over two hundred thousand United States Dollars and the water trucks for over one hundred fifty US Dollars.

At the same time, the Corporation’s Managing Director, Mohammed Ali, said:” Customers are indebted to the Corporation over six million US Dollars, and over four million of debt is owed by big companies, businesses and Government Agencies.”

Mr. Ali also called on the Liberian Government to provide more funding and support to meet up with operational and personnel costs.

The LWSC Boss then said the vehicles would be used to ease sewage constraints and water supply across the Country.
