Liberian Senate Mandates Its Joint Committee on Judiciary, Lands, Mines and Energy…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has mandated its Joint Committee on Judiciary, Lands, Mines and Energy to compile previous recommendations on the Energy Sector and review LERC AND LEC Acts.

It followed report from the Liberian Senate Joint Committee on Public Corporations, Lands, Mines and Energy.

The Joint Committee’s recommendations included privatizing the Energy Sector and Ensuring the LEC provides prepaid meters to all Government offices.

The Committee also recommended that LEC provides meters to customers who are desirous of acquiring meters and encourage other energy providers to invest in the Sector.

Meanwhile, the Senate Joint Committee on Judiciary, Lands, Mines and Energy is expected to synchronize the recommendations, review the Acts for subsequent submission to the Executive for actions.
