“Until everyone has access to Health Services, the world is unsafe…”-Dr. Peter

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-World Health Organization (WHO) Liberia Country Representative Dr. Clement Peter says the world is unsafe or protected until everyone has access to health services.

He was referring to the urgency attached to ensuring people living with disabilities are captured in the national health agenda of Liberia.

He termed people with disabilities as critical members of society, who can meaningfully contribute the nation building and national development.

Dr. Peter made the comments on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at JFK when the WHO donated several wheelchairs and white canes to the Disabled Community.

He stressed the need for people living with disabilities to be supported in every aspect of life to enable them to fully contribute to the socio-economic development of the Nation.

The WHO Country Representative reaffirmed the Agency’s fullest commitment to ensuring disabled people are incorporated into every health agenda.

Dr. Peter said:” The donation of wheelchairs and white canes will be extended to other parts of the Country, to ensure that none is left behind.”

Meanwhile, the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital General Administrator, Dama Yekeson-Koffa, said:” The donation to the Disabled Community means the inclusion of all people to access health care services.”

She referenced the Monrovia Rehabilitation Center, MRC as a pivotal part of the JFK, which focuses on catering to the welfare of the disabled people.

Madam Yekeson-Koffa committed the JFK to expanding the services, and also incorporating the work of the MRC in the Hospital’s clinical agenda.

The JFK Administrator noted that doing so will ensure a comprehensive recovery of its patients.
