Nat’l Elections Commission Concludes Investigative Recount…

NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has concluded an investigative recount of representatives’ ballot papers from the October 10 Legislative Elections in Nimba County Electoral District 4.

The verification followed a mandate from the Supreme Court of Liberia, instructing the NEC to recount the ballot papers to ascertain claims by incumbent representative, Gunpue Kargon over the alleged suppression of votes at several polling places in favor of his rival, Ernest Manseah.

ELBC Upper Nimba County Correspondent is quoted as saying the outcome of the recount is expected soon.

In another development, former Nimba County District Nine Representative, Johnson Gwaikolo, has provided a ferry to residents of the District.

According to our Correspondent, the ferry is currently sailing via the Saint John River between Nimba and Bong Counties thus bringing great relief to inhabitants of the area.

The cost of the ferry is estimated at thirty thousand US Dollars.
