Nat’l Elections Commission Finally Submits Final Registration Roll of Fifteen Counties…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has finally submitted the Final Registration Roll (FFR) of the fifteen counties before the Supreme Court, during the hearing of the Writ of Mandamus filed by the Unity Party (UP).

NEC lead lawyer, Cllr. Wilkins Wright, during arguments, said the FFR was secured in a closed format meaning pen drives.

The submission of the FFR was a result of a petition filed by opposition UP and others after the NEC failed to submit the FFR as mandated by the presiding Justice-in-Chambers, Jamesetta Wolokollie.

In counter-argument, UP Lawyer, Cllr. Buseben Keita prayed the court to rule and interpret Section 16.7 of the Elections Law the FFR be given thirty days before elections and issued a strong mandate for deliberately withholding the FFR.

But the National Elections Commission, through its legal team, also prayed the court to deny said application of Mandamus by the opposition parties and to permit the Commission, under the order of the court, to conduct the elections.
