Supreme Court to Entertain Legal Arguments between Unity Party and Nat’l Elections Commission

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Supreme Court is expected to entertain legal arguments between Unity Party (UP) and the National Elections Commission (NEC) on Thursday, September 29, 2023.

It followed the filing of the Writ of Mandamus by the UP before the highest court to compel the NEC to publish and distribute copies of the Final Registration Roll to political parties and independent candidates.

A Mandamus is a writ of court order that compels someone or an individual to perform a specific legal duty.

In a thirteen-count petition, Unity Party’s legal team alleged that the National Elections Commission has failed to publish and distribute the Final Registration Roll to political parties and independent candidates.
