Nat’l Council of Chiefs and Elders Continues Engagements with Stakeholders Ahead of October 10 Elections

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Council of Chiefs and Elders is continuing its engagements with stakeholders ahead of the much anticipated October 10 Elections.

According to the Council, it is planning a major meeting with political leaders and other heads of political parties, as part of an effort to ensure the elections are held peacefully.

The Council’s Spokesperson, Chief Matthew Smith, told ELBC on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, that the planned meeting is in continuation of the just-ended conference in Kakata, Margibi County.

Chief Smith noted that the Council is not discouraged by the absence of political leaders at the Margibi Conference, despite having written to attend the meeting.

Chief Matthew Smith said:” The Head of the National Council of Chiefs and Elders, Zanzan Kawor, is committed to ensuring that political leaders abide by the Farmington Declaration they signed a few months ago.”
