Labor Ministry Shuts Down Stores in Grand Bassa County

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Labor has temporarily shut down and fined several stores in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The stores owned by Pakistani, Indian and Fulani were closed and owners fined for what the Labor Ministry called noncompliance.

A Ministry of Labor release issued recently said the operation was carried out by a nineteen-man delegation headed by Labor Minister, Cllr. Charles Gibson, during an inspection tour.

The stores shut down and fined include Save Mart, Sharma Enterprise, Bangali Supermarket and UCI FRESH FROZEN.

The Inspectorate Team is checking work permit, Semi-Contractual Certificate, Internal Payroll and Withholding, among others.
