“Reclaiming Liberia Beaches and Waterway” project resumes in Coastal Communities

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than five-thousand residents of coastal communities in selected counties are gearing-up for the resumption of the Reclaiming Liberia Beaches and Waterway project.

The project was halted in 2020 due to financial constraints, but work is expected to kick-off soon, following budgetary allocation for the project.

The resumption will see thousands, mostly young people, engaged into vigorous cleaning of beaches and waterways, and also provide security to safeguard against illegal sand mining to prevent erosion.

In the main time, workers of the project on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, commenced voluntary cleaning of major beaches in Central Monrovia.

During the exercise, an official of the project, Edwin Kanneh, lauded President Weah and the National Legislature for the project resumption.
