UL expresses concern over students’ reluctance to pay fees

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Administration of the University of Liberia (UL) has expressed concern over the lack of payment of registration and other fees by its students.

The UL said:” Total sum collected for the semester is still below ten-percent.”

UL President Dr. Julius Nelson said:” Many students of the graduate and professional schools have huge tuition arrears, while undergraduate students are reluctant to pay their registration fees.”

Dr. Nelson noted that the situation will hinder the University’s effort to providing quality education to a rapidly growing student population.

To remedy the situation, he announced that the UL has shifted to automatically remove students in arrears at the end of the semester.

The UL President said:” Undergraduate students will not be allowed to sit their final exam, without registration complete confirmation, which is a requirement for student identification card.”

The University of Liberia is implementing a free tuition policy announced by President George Weah, with undergraduate students only required to a registration fee of two-thousand-five-hundred Liberian Dollars per semester.
