EBOLA Vaccine to be administered along Liberia-Guinea Border

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian Health workers, Security officers and support staffs working along the Liberia-Guinea border are about to take EBOLA vaccine.

The measure is intended to protect them from being infected with the EBOLA virus, which has resurfaced in Neighboring Guinea.

The disclosure was made Monday, July 12, 2021, by the World Health Organization (WHO) Liberia Office and Health Authorities in the Country.

The WHO Focal Person on Immunization in Liberia, Dr. Abdullah Sule, said:” The initiative is a joined activity of Johnson and Johnson, the Company that manufactured the EBOLA vaccine.”

Dr. Sule said the EBOLA vaccine has proven to be effective in so many Countries, including Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, among others.

Also speaking, the Manager of Expanded Program on Immunization at the Health Ministry, Adolphus Clarke, said:” The vaccine will particularly be administered in Bong, Nimba, Lofa and parts of Montserrado Counties.

Mr. Clarke said the campaign, which begins in the next two weeks, is targeting over four-thousand people.
