Prez. Weah dispels perception of Executive manipulation of Judiciary, the dispensation of justice

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President George Weah has dispelled the perception of the Executive manipulating the Judiciary in the dispensation of justice.

President Weah maintained that the Judiciary is the only branch of Government tasked with the responsibility to ensure access to justice and create an independent justice system.

The Liberian Leader said despite the lingering perception, harbored by some members of the public against the judiciary, Liberia still remains a just society.

He spoke Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the ongoing National Judicial Conference at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

The conference was organized, for the first time after eleven years, by the Supreme Court to re-examine the judiciary.

President Weah, during the Business and Commerce session, reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating an enabling business climate in Liberia.

According to the Liberian leader, the Country stands to benefit economic and skills development, job creation, regional integration and trade from its bilateral engagement with neighboring Guinea.

He said both Countries are blessed with vast mineral resources and fertile agricultural lands.

President Weah had earlier addressed delegates at the Liberia – Guinea Ministerial conference for the Guinea – Liberia railway project in Monrovia, saying the railway project has been in the pipeline for years and consummating into reality is a dream comes true.

The conference urged both delegates to have frank discussions because such an agreement borders on the livelihoods of citizens of the two Countries. Meanwhile, President Weah has recommended the establishment of an air link to have a direct flight between Monrovia and Conakry.

At the same time, Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah wants targeted and focused leadership in key areas of government to curb negative repetition of business and investment climate in Liberia.

Minister Tweah, said President George Weah’s move to establish the Business Climate Working Group in 2018 was to take a holistic look at challenges affecting the business and investment climate in the Country.

He said the focus on investment climate at the Fourth Judicial National Conference is an elevation and attempt to address systemic weaknesses and rebrand national business and investment image issues.

The Finance’ Minister added that removing barriers and decreasing cause affecting businesses and developing mechanism to enhance the fight against corruption will help to improve the business climate in the Country.
