Pres. Weah wants Civilian Gov. reinstated in Mali……

ACCRA, GHANA-President George Weah has called for the reinstatement of a civilian Government in Mali, amidst growing political crisis in that West African State.

President Weah has also opposed a unilateral change of the Malian Government by the Military, despite staging a second coup in less than a year.

The Liberian Leader was speaking Sunday, May 30, 2021, when he made known Liberia’s position on the situation, at an emergency meeting of Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in Accra, Ghana.

He urged mediators headed by former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, to ensure the then President, Bah Ndaw and Prime Minister, Moctar Ouane, are reinstated immediately.

President Weah cautioned his counterparts to remain firm on the core principle of zero tolerance for undemocratic changes of governments, as every decision is bordered on the integrity of the regional body.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Leader is expected back in the Country on Monday, May 31, 2021, following the adjournment of the emergency ECOWAS meeting.

The meeting was convened by the Chair of the Authority of Heads of States and Government, Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
