Liberia Telecommunication Authority grants license to Liberia Research and Education Network…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) has granted an internet service provider license to the Liberia Research and Education Network (LRREN).

The Network will provide internet services to learning institutions and university students to facilitate the conduct of relevant research.

Speaking during the signing ceremony on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, LTA Acting Chairperson, Edwina Crump Zackpah, said the organization will facilitate the use of research using the technology in the education, agriculture and health sectors.

Madam Zackpah described research as bedrock of technological innovation, noting that such deal will help to elevate the standard of education in the country.

She said the LTA has waived one year of the license for the LRREN in line with the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development to promote Liberian own enterprises and businesses.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Liberia Research and Education Network (LRREN), Dr. Darren Wilkins assured the student population of providing affordable internet services to them.

Dr. Wilkins said the realization of the initiative will help improve the education sector, through meaningful research activities that empower students.

Speaking Wednesday, May 26, 2021, when his network was granted license, Dr. Wilkins disclosed that the entity will bridge technology gap facing learning institutions in Liberia.

He vowed to ensure that the organization lives up to its full quota in providing affordable internet services to the students.
