Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) launches media project to fight COVID-19 … in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) has launched a media project code named, Mobilizing Media to fighting COVID-19 for Liberian Journalists with funding from Global Affairs Canada.

The project is aimed at elevating and reporting issues from the COVID-19 Pandemic that amount to human rights violations especially against women and minority communities.

Giving an overview of the project at the start of a three-day workshop, Thursday, 6, 2021, in Monrovia, Front page Africa News Desk Chief, Lennart Dodoo said JHR is in collaboration with the newspaper to implement the project.

Mr. Dodoo said the project will enable Journalists pitch stories focusing on women representation and partnership in public life.

He disclosed that the project will produce a total of 93stories that unearth human rights issues and elevate women inclusion in the public space.

Meanwhile the President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Charles Coffey urged participating Journalists to take the training seriously to be abreast of human rights issues in society.

The PUL President maintained that there are human rights violations and challenged journalists to fully understand the various violations before reporting them.

Mr. Coffey remained reporters to prioritize human rights issues as a means of putting an end to the menace.

He said Journalists need to do proper investigation to unearth human rights violations in the country.
