Pres. Weah declares today Friday National Fast and Prayer Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has declared today Friday, April 9, 2021, as a National Fast and Prayer Day, and is to be observed across Liberia as a National Holiday.

The day is in consonance with an act of the National Legislature passed in 1883, declaring the Second Friday in April of each year as National Fast and Prayer Day.

A Foreign Ministry release issued Thursday, April 8, 2021, said the day is set aside for supplication, prayers, fasting and meditation to the Almighty God.

The Proclamation quotes President Weah as calling on the Prelates and Imams as well as citizens and foreign residents to gather with one accord at their various places of worship to intercede for the Country.

All public offices, business houses and market places are to be closed during the observance of the day.
