Liberia’s Liquidity Problem is due to missteps from past leadership-Prof. Wilson Tarpeh

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Liberian Economist, Prof. Wilson Tarpeh, has attributed the current liquidity problem facing Liberia to some missteps from the Country’s past leadership.

The former Commerce Minister in the current regime, now Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said:” Liberia’s liquidity woes began from 2012, when millions of United States Dollars disappeared and were misused.”

Speaking in an ELBC interview on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Prof. Tarpeh said” Liberians should have started experiencing as early as 2018, but was adverted due to the leadership of President George Weah.”

Prof. Tarpeh listed Thirteen-Million Euros unaccounted for from the Health Sector, Six-hundred-forty-five Million USD taken from the Central Bank of Liberia and Eighty-Million USD disappearing from the National Oil Company (NOCAL) as factors leading to the problem.

He added that President Weah is working to solve the problem.
