IMF approves 48.8 Million USD for Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved 48.8 Million United States Dollars for Liberia.

A Ministry of Information release issued Tuesday, December 22, 2020, said agreement leading to the disbursement of the money under a fund’s program, was reached with the Liberian Government in 2019.

The IMF’s decision followed two separate reviews of the Extended Credit Facility program and other interventions, including debt relief and emergency assistance.

The Ministry’s release quotes the IMF as praising the reform initiatives undertaken by the Weah Administration, and its commitment to fiscal discipline.

The 48.8 Million United States Dollars is intended to aid Liberia’s reform efforts, to further stabilize the Country’s economy.
